How To: DIY Origami Bookmarks

Hi there and welcome back! As you may have read last week, I recently did a little trip to South Korea and discovered an awesome little store called Artbox, where I went a little crazy and purchased quite a fair amount of stationery. Not only did I adore the kawaii designs of these Korean products, but also, personally, I tend to write a lot, whether it’s new ideas for upcoming projects, fresh designs I want to work on for my portfolio or even just my everyday ‘to-do’ list, wherever I go, I will always have a notepad and pen on hand. So even though I did splurge a little, it will definitely all go to good use!

In this collection, along with notepads, planners and journals I had also bought these adorable little paper clips/marking clips which I had planned to use to help organise each of my new books. When writing, I often divide my book into sections to help me decipher between each of my projects and it also helps to keep everything neat and tidy. To do so, I use dividers (like tabs) to split each section, making it easier to flick from page to page. So I bought these colourful clips! But on my return home, I ended up giving them all away as souvenirs and now had to think of a new way to organise myself.

I considered creating tabs, but they seemed too ordinary and not as cute as what the clips could have been. So I did a little hunting on Pinterest, an awesome creative hub filled with amazing ideas and inspiration! And this is where I came across these little origami bookmarks! One glance and I knew they were perfect for what I was trying to achieve. There are many different styles that you can create, so I only picked out a couple to share with you today. As my notepads already have the cute designs and colour schemes, I thought I’d keep my dividers simple and just focus on the colours to match each book. This tutorial will teach you the basics, but once you have mastered the folding technique, you can decorate these little bookmarks however your heart desires!

They’re so quick and easy! Simply follow these instructions and soon you’ll be able to keep all your notebooks and journals organised too!

While I was making these, I also did a little playing and found that these look even cuter when you cut the tips off of the triangles! See below for the alternate way of creating these corner book tabs.
