Seeing Secondaries

Remember last week’s post on primary colours? Hope you were inspired to explore different colour options!
This week we’ll take a look at the three secondaries – you may have noticed them in our recent Paper Peonies window.
Secondary colours are made from mixing the primaries:
ORANGE (Red + Yellow)
Have a look at this 40th Birthday celebration by Alchemy Fine Events featured on 100 Layer Cake. They had taken the three words ‘Love, Laughter and Smiles’ and turned it into an entire event! I love how they have taken orange and set it against neutral colours of white and greys to really make it pop!
GREEN (Yellow + Blue)
You may remember our post on Emerald green – Pantone‘s colour of the year for 2013 – have a read of a bit of history on the colour over at Design Sponge.

PURPLE (Blue + Red)
Last but not least is purple – sarbe’s very own colour! Have a read on the history too - love, love, love having context! The Perfect Palette has an amazing Pinterest board on Purple Weddings. I never knew purple could be so beautiful!
Look out for secondaries – you’ll be seeing them everywhere! Liking the colour history? Learn about other colours here at Design Sponge, and stay tuned for more on colour!
